RHIT: 2025 Information Security Policy

Rose-Hulman's Information Security Policy, which was last updated in June 2025, includes the following Information Handling section:

Section 4.2.3 Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Systems

Institutional data must not be used with generative AI systems that are not operated or explicitly authorized by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. This includes inputting, processing, or storing any Institute-owned or sensitive information in systems outside the Institute’s control. Examples include public or commercial AI platforms accessed via web browsers or APIs. Use of such systems is prohibited unless the data is fully anonymized, and the use case has been reviewed and approved by the Information Security Team. Such use constitutes data misuse and may result in unauthorized disclosure, violating Institute policy and applicable regulations.
